Mutton Bustin'

A couple friends of ours raise sheep, and they just had some new baby lambs. Dallin was trying to climb into the pin to get at them. He loved it! There are a couple people who want to take him mutton bustin' when he gets a little older.... think rodeo... but kids on sheep! 

They were so cute! Only a week old yet the were pretty big, and really strong. we would love to live where we could have a little bit of land.... maybe not a sheep but some land for Dallin to explore. He couldn't stop running around looking at all the neat things.

Earth Day

Happy Earth Day to all my tree hugging friends! We are not what you would call super tree huggers but we try to do our part ..... we use our recycling bin...... and thats about it! Well We planted some flowers, Dallin and I. It was so much fun. Hopefully they will grow soon so he can understand the concept. I plan to grow a garden too. We'll see how that works out, anyone out there have any advice? 

I have some more "green" things that go on in our house. One I'm just trying out so I can't post it yet until I'm fully commited to it. 

Happy Earth Day!

teeth.

Sarah has two teeth, on the bottom, in the middle. They weren't there yesterday.  They must have appeared magically overnight! 

She won't let me see them but I can sure FEEL them! (think about it, it'll come to you)

CORRECTION : Ok so I knew she was teething, by the wet tee shirt contest she would win daily, and the IV of tylenol hooked up to her arm! But really she had no teeth then the next day they were "popped" through!

April's Fool

Sarah Slept through the night!!! On April fools day... and hasn't done it since. I Got Pranked!

 I read this book after I had Dallin about the threshold of babies sleeping through the night and after they do it for the first time to not feed them in the middle of the night after that point. Or else they just get into the habit of doing it but not really need it. Something like that... but of course I prefer the "when the baby wakes up feed her back to sleep" solution that I made up myself which sorta works for us I guess!

In other big news, Dallin used the Potty! .... once.... and he hasn't done it since. I got Pranked again! After taking a bath one night I was letting him run around in the buff... and he started to pee on my carpet... So I stopped him and got all excited and off to the bathroom we went. I stood him up on the stool so he could reach. Then he even lifted the lid and Peed into the toilet! So we had a little party and I told him how awesome he was. But now every time I try to get him to do it again all he wants to do is play with the lid or not do anything at all. So much for potty training for now. 

I really think I am the fool for thinking that both these great things could happen all at once! 

I don't know when I'll be "ready" to tackle potty training so for now we let sleeping dogs lie.

Happy Easter!

I tried hard to not make Easter about the "bunny" this year and I really tried to sit down with Dallin a couple of times and tell him stories about Jesus Christ and his resurrection. After telling the story about 10 times through the week, I think he might have actually got it. Thats an awesome feeling as a parent.

I also taught the lesson in Nursery on Sunday and had a fun picture/activity that helped the kids understand the resurrection a little better. It was really neat to see them understand and try to tell the story back to me! I'm glad I put the time into making the things I did. 

So Easter "bunny" stuff is always fun too, So I hid some eggs in our front room and the kids easter baskets had some things in it, a new book and a little bunny. Dallin had the most fun looking for and finding eggs, especially when he figured out what was inside them!  

OK so I had to put everyone of these pics up, I know they look the same but check out Dallin's face in all of them.... not a single good one. At first all I could get was a mug shot so I was trying to think how I could get him to smile, so I told him to "show me his teeth" and this folks is what I ended up with! 

Here is a goofy one of Sarah when we were dying easter eggs. Oh yeah and doing that with a baby and a 2 year old.... maybe we should have waited until next year. Sarah started crying right when all the eggs had been put in the dye, leaving Dallin ample opportunity to play in it! All Dallin wanted to do was "dip" the egg holder into the dye using it for bubbles... what a mess! Despite all that I wouldn't have changed anything! Well probably would have got a picture of them both dressed up in their nice easter cloths and not just their jammies!
