oh the funniest things...

Dallin kept taking the ladder off this fire truck, he thought it was the funniest thing in the world! He has a great sense of humor just like his dad! His laugh is awesome! 

Grandpa came to visit

It's really hard that my dad lives so far away. Especially to see him on any kind of regular basis. I was so happy to have him come visit us this past week! We didn't do much of anything except just hang out and spend time together. Dallin took right to him, especially once he got some candy, then they were best friends the whole time. Sarah was just as happy! Both of them excited to have someone new to play with.

I was so grateful too because I have been sick with a sinus something or another so having the extra help was excellent. My dad gave me a chance to catch up on some sleep while he spent time with his grandkids. Thursday when he got here we went to Red Lobster. Good food Great company. Dallin enjoyed looking in the lobster tank. Saturday there was an engagement party for Laura. Too bad it was right during nap time, we had to split early.

Heather and Dave enjoyed having a babysitter saturday night to go out on a date!

Dallin enjoyed playing trains, ball, swinging upside down (see video below), blowing bubbles, going for a walk, and just hanging out with grandpa! The day after he left, Dallin went to the room where he was staying and said "uh oh" because he was gone. Thanks for coming and spending time with us Grandpa!

New Temple

The dedication of a new temple is always exciting. The Draper Utah Temple was dedicated this past weekend. We were able to attend. This is the 4th dedication that I can remember going to. It's exciting how much the church is growing. 

I have a confession, after a long night saturday I sorta fell asleep during the dedication.. oops! Satan has a way of making your kids not sleep the night before important events. 

rollin' rollin' rollin'....

Sarah Rolled over today from her back to her stomach! She's been trying for a while now and finally made it! Once she got there she hated it. Next milestone... crawling... or sitting up... I don't remember. YAY Sarah!

You've had a birthday shout "HOORAY!"

Dallin Turned 2 yesterday... my little baby... my first born... ok don't get me wrong I loved it when he was a baby but I love him even more now! He can do so much and he wants to do so much on his own! Happy Birthday Dallin I love you!

"it must be pajama day"

This morning we went to the grocery store, in our Pajamas (just the kids not me). I didn't think anything of it when I left the house other than, "the kids are doing good lets go shopping now before we have a melt down" So off we went and had a wonderful time! Ok I'm being sarcastic but really it went good. Until I got to the check out line and the cashier lady made this comment "it must be pajama day... you're so cute in your jammies" then I swear she glared at me like I'm the worst mother in the world for going out like that... We had jackets so I don't see the big deal! Oh well just thought I'd share the weirdness of people in this world including but not limited to me! 

We got a Balloon and that was really the highlight of the trip for Dallin and Sarah anyways. Here is Sarah playing with the balloon, its awesome how excited she gets over something so simple. 

Raspberries of the non-fruit variety

Hooray I figured out how to post video (it really wasn't THAT hard) I just think the server was slow the first time I tried and it didn't work so I gave up! with that being said I will probably post more video for  all my family far away. 

I've noticed that I mostly talk about Dallin, it's not that I love him more or anything like that, he just does funny things and I want to remember and share those moments. Sarah on the other hand doesn't do much (that sounds bad to say I know) but really she just is content to sit and watch most of the time. So when she does start doing something new it's a really big deal! 

Sarah's most recent "development" has been to start blowing raspberries it is so darn cute. I had to share!

She is also very wiggly, and is starting to grab at everything with her hands. She doesn't like to be on her stomach so it doesn't seem that crawling will be anytime soon (she's only 4 months people)

mutterings of a two year old... or lack there of

Words of our silent two year old are far and few between. Dallin will not talk very much but when he does it's pretty cute. These are just some of the things that Dallin likes to say or do:

When you ask him a question you get one of two responses:

A resounding YEAH!!! 

or an uncaring Huh?

Sometimes by the tone of our voice we can get him to say Yeah to something he might not otherwise agree on. 

He says Thank You but only when you don't ask him to say it. (if you ask him to then he won't)

We ask him to say "please" and you would think we asked him to solve world hunger! oh the drama.

When he is frustrated or want something really badly he will start saying "gotta go" when we ask where he has to go he just responds "I gotta go" 

He likes to sing, I can never make out any words but its defiantly "I am a Child of God" or "ABC's" which happens to be the same as "Twinkle Twinkle" 

He can say words like "eye" "nose" "knee" "mouth" even "elbow"  But he will just randomly spurt them out. 

When you point to something and ask him "what's that?" he responds by pointing to something completely different and asking "e gat?" (what's that, Dave says he sounds like pinky from pinky and the brain) So this proves he mimics very well! 

One day I shouted someones name to get their attention and Dallin repeated the name and the tone of voice I had used!

He loves to say "uh oh" and 99% of the time it is in an appropriate setting!

He is learning opposites and will say "UP and DOWN" is his favorite as well as "ON and OFF", and "HELLO and GOODBYE"

He knows colors very well If I ask to get the red ball he will get the red ball. 

I don't write all these things to sound like I'm showing off or explaining how little I think Dallin talks. I want to remember him the way he is right now. As a cute little boy who still doesn't get into very much trouble. I know one day he will start talking and never shut up! I want to remember these things to be able to tell him later in life what he was like when he was two! I love Dallin very much and life just wouldn't be the same without him!

crafty or uncrafty

One of my friends who's blog I read calls herself uncrafty but she is so crafty! Anyways she inspired me to want to do MORE "crafts" then I took a step back and realized that I'm pretty darn crafty and why do I want to take on more! currently I have 6 projects "in the works." I get this from my mom it is something we share. We enjoy making things. Another one of my friends recently blogged about how mormon women are kinda "snooty" when it comes to crafting. Michelle's Blog

and I quote:

"Anything that we see we are breaking it down into how we can do it ourselves and do it better. Maybe it is cause we're cheap and don't want to pay someone for what we can do ourselves or maybe it's cause we are industrious and like to do things on our own and be proud of what we've made. For whatever reason more often than not you'll always hear mormon's walking through a craft show with their noses turned up and saying "I can totally make that!" 

So Thank you to all my crafty and uncrafty friends! I have finished many of my projects it just seems as if the list never ends! So here is a picture of my most recent accomplishment. A quiet book for my kids to take to church. I had one of these my mom made for us when I was little (too bad she gave it away) I remember it well and liked it a lot. I took the "easy" way out and made mine from a kit but it still was a lot of work. You can buy kids here ldsquietbooks if you feel so inclined. Maybe someday I'll make another one... probably not!

OUCH!

OUCH! That is all I can say about Dallin lately, he just keeps falling. We are going to the doctor soon because I'm pretty sure he has an ear infection causing a balance problem. His last encounter with gravity ended up with a welt the size almost of a golf ball. (see photo though not the best) My kid has hit the pavement more times than I can keep up with. What is a mother to do? He has been doing really good with stairs for over a year now! But this last time he just walked straight off the edge... poor kid! I really didn't think anyone would believe me how big it was so I took this picture right after it happened. He wanted nothing to do with me or the camera! He'll thank me when he's older to show his battle wounds.

I found a baby picture of Dave and it's official that my children look just like him when he was a baby! There is no doubt about it! (not that there was any doubt to start with) I don't know why I'm obsessed with family members looking alike but I just am I can't help myself!
